TARXIEN LOCAL COUNCIL Post of a Sub Librarian The Department of Libraries and the Tarxien Local Council invite applications from qualified persons for the post of Sub-Librarian at the Public Library of the Tarxien Local Council at Triq Santa Tereza, Tarxien. Applicants eligible to apply need to be in possession of a Diploma in Libraries and Information Studies or have worked as a librarian or be in possession of 5 certificates at SEC Level which should include Maltese and English and have to be computer literate. The selected candidate will be expected to perform library duties (see list underneath), be proficient in the use of computer and office equipment and work a minimum of eight hours per week and also in accordance with a timetable during the week as the management of the Library will decide from time to time. The selected candidate is expected to manage ancillary services as provided for by the library and to collect payment for such services. List of duties 1. Issuing books on loan and accept return of same by means of the computerized system;
2. Offer assistance to members of the public in information retrieval;
3. Recommend to the Council selection of books to order for the library;
4. Maintain an up-to-date collection of books by performing ‘weeding’ exercises and daily shelving of books in the proper order. PEMBROKE LOCAL COUNCIL Services of Librarian Pembroke Local Council notifies that the Council requires the services of a librarian to work for a minimum of six hours a week.
