Book loans on the increase

Both The Times of Malta (25 April 2007) and The Malta Independent (24 April 2007) reported the Minister of Education of Education, Youth and Employment, Dr Louis Galea quoting statistics on book loans from public libraries during 2006.

MaLIA would like to point out that the figure quoted by Dr Galea (811,385) is in fact incorrect as this does not include the loans made by the Gozo Lending Library. Accoding to the National Statistics Office, in fact, book loans in 2005 amounted to 875,270, an increase of 22,060 over 2005.
