MaLIA press release stimulates discussion

The MaLIA press release published on the 30 June 2009, has stimulated discussion in the local press. The Times of Malta (1 July 2009) commented on the MaLIA press release with an article entitled "Library wanted in proposed Piano Valletta projects" which was rather misleading as MaLIA was in fact asking for clarification as to why a museum is now being mentioned, given Piano's clear indication that a library would be part of the project! Nevertheless, this article created quite a discussion with a number of online comments.

The MaLIA Chairman, Laurence Zerafa, wrote in the Times of Malta (2 July 2009), insisting on the need for a modern, state-of-the-art public library as suggested by Renzo Piano himself.

And local journalist Claire Bonello has also written in her weekly column on The Sunday Times of Malta (5 July 2009) enquiring about the "disappearing library"!
