‘Books for Schools’ scheme
16 Oct 2011Eden Cinemas and Merlin library have launched a ‘Books for Schools’ campaign to promote Maltese literacy in schools. The campaign started with the new scholastic year and will run for the duration of the semester.
Schools will be able to benefit and enhance their libraries when bringing a group of students to the Eden cinemas.
The first five schools that bring over 500 students to watch a film will be awarded €200 worth of Maltese fiction books for their libraries. Another five schools that bring 300 to 500 students to the cinema will be awarded €100 worth of Maltese literature.
In addition, the Eden Cinemas is also hosting a competition during the first term of the 2011-2012 academic year, whereby schoolchildren will be encouraged to submit a short story in Maltese to be in for a chance of winning €100 worth of books from Merlin along with an Eden Entertainment pack.
A panel will be set up to judge the stories and choose a winner.
