MaLIA Council meeting with Ms Myra Michele Brown,
Information Resource Officer, US Embassy in Rome - 21 April 2008
The MaLIA Council, thanks to the excellent links with the US Embassy in Malta, met up Ms Brown during the latest Council meeting held on Monday 21 April 2008. During her short stay in Malta, Ms Brown delivered a talk to the current Dip. LIS students and also accepted the MaLIA Council invitation to join them during the Council meeting. Several interesting proposals and suggestions were discussed. Ms Brown also joined Council for dinner immediately after the meeting. Special thanks to Ms Louise Fazon at the US Embassy in Malta for making the necessary arrangements for this meeting to take place.

MaLIA's comments on the pre budget document - 30 September 2007
In a letter signed by the MaLIA Chairman, MaLIA has submitted its comments on the pre budget document entitled "Families growing stronger".

Position statement on proposed Freedom of Information Act - September 2007
MaLIA position statement concerning the white paper entitled "Towards greater transparency and accountability" that represents the government's proposal for a Freedom of Information Act in Malta.

Meeting with the National Library Director - 13 August 2007
A short report focusing on the issues raised during a meeting with the Director of the National Library to discuss the recommendations carried in the MaLIA Report on the State of Maltese Libraries.

Meeting with Public Libraries authorities - 20 June 2007
A short report on the meeting held between MaLIA Council representatives, Mr Philip Borg(Director Libraries Department) and Mr Joseph Debattista (OiC Public Libraries) to discuss the recommendations published by MaLIA on public libraries.

Meeting with Minister of Education, Youth and Employment - 3 May 2007
A short report highlighting the issues discussed during a meeting with Dr Louis Galea to discuss The Libraries Act and other matters related to libraries.
