MaLIA Council meets new Information Resource Officer at the
US Embassy in Rome - 17 February 2009
The Council kicked off the 40th anniversary programme with a meeting with Ms Laura Kaspari Hohmann, the new Information Resource Officer at the US Embassy in Rome. The meeting was held at the University of Malta Library Boardroom. During her short visit to Malta, Ms Kaspari Hohmann also accepted to deliver two presentations to local library and information workers and students. The presentations were on ‘Web 2.0 technologies and their use in libraries’ and on ‘The role of graphic novels in promoting reading’ and were very well received by those who attended. Ms Kaspari Hohmann also joined the MaLIA Council for dinner immediately after one of the presentations and had time to discuss in more detail issues concerning the local scene. MaLIA would like to thank Ms Cynthia Ehrlich and Ms Louise Falzon from the US Embassy in Malta for their continuous support to MaLIA in recent years. To download the presentations, click here. Information Resource Officer, US Embassy in Rome - 21 April 2008
The MaLIA Council, thanks to the excellent links with the US Embassy in Malta, met up Ms Brown during the latest Council meeting held on Monday 21 April 2008. During her short stay in Malta, Ms Brown delivered a talk to the current Dip. LIS students and also accepted the MaLIA Council invitation to join them during the Council meeting. Several interesting proposals and suggestions were discussed. Ms Brown also joined Council for dinner immediately after the meeting. Special thanks to Ms Louise Fazon at the US Embassy in Malta for making the necessary arrangements for this meeting to take place.
